Schenectady County Issues Boil Water Order
for Portions of Niskayuna Due to Water Main Break
(Schenectady, NY) The Schenectady County Department of Environmental Health has issued a BOIL WATER ORDER for portions of the Town of Niskayuna as a precautionary measure in response to a water main break.
RESIDENTS IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS MUST BOIL WATER BEFORE USE:
2409-2430 Parkville Pl.
2927-2992 River Rd.
All of Whitmyer Dr.
All of Covington Ct.
All of Agostine Ave.
All of Deanna Ct.
All of Partridge Run
Including “The Center for Disability Services”
CUSTOMERS IN THE ABOVE MENTIONED AREAS HAVE RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF THE WATERMAIN BREAK AND HAVE BEEN ORDERED BY SCHENECTADY COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH TO BOIL ALL WATER FOR DRINKING AND CULINARY PURPOSES.
DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST. Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one (1) minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water certified for sale by the New York State Department of Health. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills most bacteria and other organisms in the water.
The broken water main is currently undergoing repair. All houses and businesses in the affected areas have received notification of the water main break. Residents will be informed via the media when tests confirm that no harmful bacteria are in the system and you no longer need to boil your water. It is anticipated that the problem will be resolved within a couple of days.
