A woman is charged with driving while using her cell phone after she slammed into a herd of cows crossing a rural road downstate. Police in Orange County say 21-year-old Daisy Cowit was distracted by her phone when her SUV hit six cows. All the cows survived, but three suffered serious injuries. Cowit also nearly struck two farm workers. In addition to distracted driving, Cowit is charged with reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and reckless driving. She tells police she only looked at her phone to check who an incoming call was coming from.
