Truck Driver Helps North Greenbush Police Capture Suspect

A tip from an alert truck driver helps North Greenbush police capture a suspect.

On Tuesday, a jogger told police she was jogging near the Hoffman's Car Wash on Route 150 in Wynantskill when a man approached her from behind, groped her and then ran off.   Police say a Good Samaritan who was vacuuming his vehicle at the car wash heard the woman’s screams and went to help her.  The victim was shaken up but not physically injured.

One day later, a truck driver who had witnessed the incident called the police to say he had spotted the suspect walking along Route 150.  Police responded and arrested 36 year old Bruce Bargy of West Sand Lake.

There may be more to come; police say they seized property from Bargy's home and have begun a separate investigation.  The FBI's Violent Crime Against Children Task Force is also now involved.

North Greenbush Police are even going so far as to suggest that they may have averted something worse from happening.
