As part of this year’s Troy Turkey Trot, there’s a costume contest in the 5K – “Best Thanksgiving Costume” and “Most Unique Costume" – for the mini road race featuring costumed runners and regional mascots.
Now celebrating its 66th year, the Troy Turkey Trot is the nation’s 12th oldest road race and the 64th oldest road race in the world. It draws more than 8,100 participants from 36 states to the Collar City to take part in a 5K, 10K, Grade School Mile and Turkey Walk.
All Turkey Trot participants will receive a dry-fit commemorative t-shirt. 5K, 10K and Grade School mile participants will receive finishers’ medals, while walk participants will receive custom event pins.
Participants are encouraged to make a donation to the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York, this year’s “regional” charity, or the CYO Center, this year’s “local” charity.
All spectators and participants are also encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to the Troy Atrium to give to local food pantries.
