Ed Sheeran says he's finished recording his next album.  Keeping fans updated on his progress, the singer tweeted a photo of himself with collaborators Rick Rubin and Snow Patrol's Johnny McDaid in the studio, with the caption "Finished."

The still-untitled follow-up to Ed's 2011 debut album has been two years in the making, but the British singer-songwriter isn't expected to release it until early next year.  He hinted at a possible release date in a recent interview with "MTV News," saying that he's only planning to promote his song for "The Hobbit" soundtrack up until awards season.  He added that he'll shift gears into promoting the new album shortly after.

Ed is among the presenters for Friday's Grammy Nominations Concert on CBS.  Last year, he earned a nomination for his song "The A Team."
